Disabling Outlook Plug-in associated with Symantec 10.1
After upgrading your Symantec Antivirus to 11.4 from 10.1 only (this does not apply to previous versions) you may get the following error when opening Outlook:
To fix this error message you must disable an add-in that was installed with the previous version of Symantec.
For Outlook 2007 users
- From within Outlook, go to Tools, Trust Center
- Select Add-ins. At the bottom of the window is the Manage drop-down menu. Select Exchange Client Extensions and click Go.
- In the windows that pops up, UNCHECK the Symantec Antivirus option and click OK.
For Outlook 2003 users
- From within Outlook go to Tools then Options.
- Go to Other tab and choose Advanced Options.
- Click on Add-in Manager.
- Uncheck Symantec AntiVirus Outlook Protection and click OK.
